The Music Online database by Alexander Street Press comprises four parts:
  • Classical Scores Library, Volume I
    Collection of music prints, music manuscripts and previously unpublished material from the 15th to the 20th century. Various music genres are covered, including orchestral and chamber music, opera, song, instrumental and choral music, as well as different scores. The database also contains sources that are not yet copyright -free. The materials from Boosey & Hawkes are not included.
  • Classical Music Reference Library
    compilation of relevant reference works in the amount of approx. 55,000 pages on the history of western classical music from the Middle Ages to the 21st century. Included are subject and personal items from renowned reference works such as Bakers Dictionary of Music (1997), Bakers Biographical Dictionary of Musicians (6 volumes, 2001), Bakers Student Encyclopedia of Music (3 volumes, 1999) or Women Composers (7 volumes, 1996-2003).
  • African American Music Reference
    comprehensive reference work and collection of rare or previously unpublished materials on the history of Afro-American music from the beginning to the 1970s with a total scope of over 45,000 pages. A variety of musical directions, genres and forms of expression such as blues, jazz, spiritual, gospel, civil war songs, slave songs, rhythm & blues, etc. are covered
  • The Garland Encyclopedia of World Music Online
    comprehensive standard reference work with over 1,200 detailed items and personal items and approx. 9,200 pages for traditional ethnom music worldwide, edited by James Porter and Timothy Rice. The digital edition offers comfortable access to the full text of the 10-volume printed edition (1998-2002) of the same name (1998-2002) as well as all illustrations, drawings, grades, music examples, tables and diagrams.
